Yes, our main tanning agent is dihydroxyacetone, which has no known toxicity. St. Tropez only works upon the uppermost layers of the skin and cannot get into the bloodstream from normal application. However, be aware that hormonal changes during pregnancy (especially during the first 3 months) may affect the development of the tan. Do not apply to the breast area if breastfeeding.

Yes, carefully apply St. Tropez Bronzing Lotion to the area with a cotton bud. Leave for at least 8 hours, wash away guide colour then apply your all-over tan as normal. If the tan is not dark enough, repeat approximately every 8 hours until the stretch mark or scar is disguised.

Yes, St.Tropez will help to cover vitiligo. Apply St Tropez Bronzing Lotion to the lighter areas as thickly as possible, dilute using St Tropez Body Moisturiser and apply with a cotton bud to the darker edges if necessary. Then, allow to dry. Don’t worry if it looks streaky at this stage, it will be fine later. Allow to develop, ideally overnight, before washing off the guide colour to reveal your tan. If the tan is not dark enough, repeat approximately every 8 hours until the Vitiligo patch is disguised. No. There are no sun filters in St Tropez products so it’s very important that you still use a sun protection product with sufficient levels of SPF when exposing your skin to the sun.

St. Tropez formulations contain a unique combination of two completely safe active ingredients that work together to give a gorgeously natural looking colour that fades naturally, too. The first, dihydroxyacetone (or DHA for short) is a colourless sugar that interacts with the amino acids in the surface layer of the skin to produce a temporary colour change – your tan. This ingredient is combined with Erythrulose, a naturally moisturising ingredient derived from raspberries, that works in the same way as DHA but it develops more slowly, giving you a smoother colour that lasts longer and fades more evenly.

Ideally leave it for 8 hours – the tan will keep developing for up to 24 hours.

Generally, a St. Tropez self tan will last between 2-10 days, depending on your skin type and how you care for it. To help make sure your tan looks great for as long as possible use St. Tropez Body Moisturiser or our new Body Butter to nourish and condition your skin. Self tan is a product that provides a medium to full strength shade. It is applied to the skin and left to develop for a period of time. The colour will develop for approximately 8 hours and will last 2 – 10 days depending on skin type and how you care for your tan. A gradual tan is a gentle tan that can be built up to a medium to full strength shade when applied over a period of time.

Although extremely rare, always seek medical advice if you think you have had an allergic reaction to St. Tropez products. We do recommend that you carry out a patch test 24 hours before using St. Tropez products whether at home or in salon, just to be check you don’t have any sensitivity before using the product all over.

The St. Tropez self tan range contains a guide colour so you can see exactly where you put it. You don’t need to worry about applying too much – only missed bits can give an uneven, or patchy finish. The St. Tropez Everyday range doesn’t contain a guide colour but it does leave a wet sheen on the skin so you can see where you have applied.
